Love Island bosses launch new dating show The Cabins after being forced to cancel the hit show
I’m not ashamed to admit that when the news broke we would not be seeing another series of Love Island until summer at the earliest, I was pretty devo’d. Love Island shapes my summer and now winter TV schedule, and it’s the light, compelling bit of fun I need in my life. But fear not; ITV is currently cooking up an alternative dating show that sounds every bit as thrilling as our beloved Love Island. I’ll be honest, there’s not a huge amount of readily-available info out there just yet, but it sounds as though The Cabins will be just as gripping as Love Island.
The TV show is going to be made alongside 12 Yard Productions, and is asking singletons to apply who are looking for “a real emotional connection” in the current climate of endless swiping and ghosting galore.

ITV Is Launching Groundbreaking New Dating Show And Applications Are Already Open
Wait, what? Selling Sunset star appeared on Gemma Collins’ reality show. There is some good news though as ITV2 have confirmed that Love Island bosses are launching a brand-new dating show called The Cabins, which offers singletons “the most revealing first date of their lives” as they move in together when they first meet. Daters will ditch technology and go back to basics as they move in with their potential love match.

ITV drops a bunch of singletons into a luxury villa and they only way they can get through the show is by coupling up! They are forced to pair up.
Just when you thought that Love Island -shaped hole in your life would never diminish, ITV has gone and filled it with new dating show Singletown. Monday September 2 saw the first episode premiere on ITV2, following five couples as they put a time-out on their relationship in order to party as singletons in separate London apartments. At the end of each week, the couples will come back together for the Love Locket Ceremony held by the show’s co-hosts Emily Atack and Joel Dommett , during which they will decide whether to get back together or carry on living their best single life.
The first episode introduced viewers to the couples and their situationships, and they were then separated before being launched into the deep end with a singles party followed by a mixer. With a whole host of fresh faces to flirt with, already the cracks were starting to show between some of the couples. What’s more, there were some clear similarities to dating show Love Island — a group of young contestants looking for love, a snarky narrator and the fact that it airs every weeknight.
Oh so they have literally made a whole TV series of Casa Amor I see Singletown LoveIsland. Was interested in Singletown because I thought it was some kind of match maker show. But no, it’s basically Love Island in a city setting but they’ve thrown actual couples into it. Because you know, you’d definitely split up to go on the same show wouldn’t you. This show makes the loveisland cast’s relationships look genuine Singletown. This house warming party is a poor man’s Casa Amor!
‘Love Island’ bosses launching new dating show ‘The Cabins’
The programme will arrive on our screens next month and the first episode even includes a former Islander, Oliver Maxwell Fernandez, who is still searching for love. As dating shows go, this is pretty simple. The Radio 1 DJ thought up the idea while on a shopping trip of his own, he recently explained to The Mirror. As the show airs at 6pm – and features different people in each episode – we can confidently say that things will stay strictly PG.
The broadcaster clearly has confidence in the show, which will air on ITV2 for the next 30 weeks.

A new dating show to be broadcast on ITVBe is looking for single estate and letting agents to take part. The show is due to be broadcast later this year and its producers are looking for agents to carry out dates at their offices. Half of the date is spent with the singletons getting to know each other while one of them is at work and the second half is spent in a local bar or coffee shop, allowing the daters to get to know each other better.
ITVBe is expert when it comes to making dross like this. Sounds truly awful – you’d have to pay me to watch! Where do I sign up? Sounds utterly dreadful. What more do you expect from ITVBe, though? Where do they get these ideas from? Surely no office would be willing for this to take place! I doubt it would generate great publicity for the business either if I’m completely honest. The whole concept is certainly different compared to ITV’s normal dating programs.

Ex on the Beach Thanks to TV, observing people’s love lives and dating habits has come a long way from reading the protracted courting rituals of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. From the titan of TV matchmaking, Blind Date , to the more niche Take Me Out , the British public has fallen in love with a genre that mixes the suspense of “Will they, won’t they? The Dating Game wrote the rule book for dating shows: corny questions, cheesy answers and a host who acts as a tongue-in-cheek Cupid.
The programme revolved around three hopeful singles sitting behind a screen answering the coy questions of another lonely heart. It was the predecessor to Britain’s iconic Blind Date , hosted by national treasure Cilla Black on a bright, fuchsia set. At its height, in the s, more than 18 million viewers tuned in to a show that was one of TV’s heaviest hitters.
But by the time Black called a halt to Blind Date in , audiences had sunk to under 3 million. The ITV show remained mostly unchanged from the formats that inspired it — apart from the introduction of “ditch or date”, which involved the picker being able to dump their date after seeing what they looked like. When Blind Date left our screens in , televised dating hooked up with the incumbent bad boy of television, reality TV.
A world of novelty dating shows exploded into British living rooms. Farmer Wants a Wife , the show in which women from the city vied for the attention of a farmer, did not do well here, but it became one of FremantleMedia’s biggest sellers in international markets.
