Pottsgrove High School graduate Dustin Tavella practices guitar. As the male talent, split into teams of country boys and city boys, competes to win Paige’s affections, Tavella will have his ‘date’ with her this week. With guitar in hand, Tavella will be ready to sing and even dance to create some harmony among the 21 men – and to gain Paige’s favor. The cameras and microphones were always on. Fortunately for Tavella, he was able to keep his guitar with him, and he often sang and played, acting like a walking iPod for himself and his roommates. But it’s not exactly what you think: The two met back in when Kelsey was the bachelorette on CMT’s reality dating show, “Sweet Home Alabama,” where she had to pick a winner from 22 men from the country and 11 from big cities. Collin, a Birmingham native, was one of the “country” men. Kelsey says though she wasn’t necessarily expecting to find a match from the show, much less a husband, she was interested in Collin even before the show filmed.
The show did her one better and convinced Collin to come back for a second season. While filming in Fairhope, Alabama, Kelsey says she still was skeptical that she would find true love, but nevertheless enjoyed getting to know Collin. She ended up picking Collin, but the show did not end in a proposal. When filming wrapped in early October, Kelsey, a native of Tuscaloosa returned to Los Angeles to continue her modeling career, while Collin remained in Birmingham.
Over the next four months, before the show’s finale aired in January, the new couple dated long distance and in secret. I think that made us really close–just being forced to stay in together. I always say the Lord took me 2, miles to meet someone that lived 45 minutes from me in Alabama. It was during those four months, Kelsey says, that she realized she was in love with Collin. For Collin, it was clear Kelsey was the one from the moment he met her.

Cable channel CMT has revealed the cast of a new season of “Sweet Home Alabama,” and as usual the show’s home state is well represented among the aspiring reality TV lovebirds gathered for production in the Fairhope area. The show premiered in July and drew such strong response that CMT aired three seasons virtually back to back.

Duke is a Clemson University graduate who now works as a national representative for Kruger Farms, an outdoors retailer in Minnesota. Duke is also a part time model and veterinary technician. It’s a reality TV show with an emphasis on matchmaking, like The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, but with a special twist that makes it unique: it’s a battle between the city and the country. In the first season, young Southern belle Devin Grissom meets twenty potential suitors. Ten are traditional Southern gentlemen and ten are city slickers, but all have come to win the lady’s heart. As she gets to know each of them, she must decide which of the several suitors to send off the show each week.
All the men live together in one house, so tensions are high as they all compete for attention in group activities and individual dates. The woman and her suitors spend time both in the country and the city, giving every one of them a chance to show her what they can do best in their natural habitat. For the second season of the show, which aired in the fall of , the same format was kept, except this time the tables were turned – rejected country bachelor Tribble Reese from the first season became the center of attention, and this time he had to choose from among ten country girls and ten city girls.
